“We are keenly aware of the financial hardships occurring throughout the communities we serve and the need for our services,” says Bruce Newman, cofounder and executive chairman at Essentials PetCare, “We look forward to providing the affordable, accessible, high-quality care that is much needed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

In 2016, Essentials PetCare launched the very first retail veterinary clinic located within a Walmart store in Port Richey, Florida. The company’s clinics provide affordable routine veterinary care, including vaccinations, labwork, and treatment for a variety of minor illnesses, such as ear infections, common skin conditions, and urinary issues. More serious ailments and surgeries are referred to full-service veterinary hospitals in the surrounding community.

According to a December 2018 study published by Access to Veterinary Care Coalition and the University of Tennessee, nearly 28 percent of U.S. households with an estimated 29 million dogs and cats experience barriers to veterinary services because of cost and not knowing where to access care. With the mission to improve the lives of pets and their families by providing affordable, accessible, high-quality veterinary care, the Essentials PetCare team hopes to remove these barriers to quality care in more communities. To see the full report, go to http://avcc.utk.edu/avcc-report.pdf.

Essentials PetCare is scheduling contact-free visits for the safety of clients and staff while COVID-19 transmission is still a concern. Pet parents can book a visit for their pets online and email their pets’ records, if any, to their local clinic. Once visits are scheduled, pet parents will simply drop off their pet inside their local clinic’s door at their scheduled time, then watch their pets’ exam via live video.

Updates on these new locations will be sent to those who sign-up to receive Essentials PetCare newsletters: https://essentialspetcare.com/newsletter/.
