ROYSE CITY, Texas. – Essentials PetCare opened its second walk-in veterinary clinic located within a Walmart store in the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Friday.

The new Essentials PetCare veterinary clinic is located at the Royse City Walmart Supercenter at 494 West Interstate 30 in Royse City.

Families with pets in the Royse City area can now bring their cats and dogs to Essentials PetCare at Walmart for minor illness exams, vaccinations and routine veterinary care on a walk-in basis, without needing to set an appointment.

“We are excited to have Essentials PetCare opening a veterinary clinic in our Royse City Walmart Supercenter. Our commitment to help customers save money and live better through access to quality health and wellness services now includes the four-legged members of their family,” said Christi Cox, Walmart store manager, Royse City.

Like other Essentials PetCare locations, the clinic in Royse City will provide routine vaccinations, labwork, and treatment for minor illnesses, including ear infections, common skin conditions and urinary issues. Patients with more serious ailments, like chronic illness, or those in need of emergency care, surgical and specialty procedures, will be referred to full-service veterinary hospitals in the surrounding community.

Core to its mission, Essentials PetCare seeks to expand access to affordable veterinary care and provide education about the importance of seeing a veterinarian regularly. According to recent studies, nearly 28 percent of pets in America do not receive regular veterinary care.

“Since pets age much faster than humans, seeing a veterinarian regularly helps them to live longer, healthier and happier lives,” said Dr. Douglas Spiker, a veterinarian, co-founder and president of Essentials PetCare. “By identifying potential health issues before they become serious, we can often recommend courses of action to prevent the ailment from becoming more serious, saving pet parents money and increasing the time they have with their furry family members.”

In 2016, Essentials PetCare launched the first retail veterinary clinic located within a Walmart store in the U.S. Last month, the company announced plans to open nine new clinics in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and recently opened its first location in Texas at the Walmart in Kaufman. The remaining seven Dallas-Fort Worth clinics will continue to open this summer at Walmart stores in the cities of Anna, Cross Roads, Fort Worth, Frisco, Gainesville, Prosper and Weatherford.

Essentials PetCare clinics compliment full-service veterinary hospitals by introducing veterinary care to a large segment of the U.S. pet owning market, which has traditionally not pursued veterinary services because of cost. The company’s veterinarians routinely educate clients on the benefits of full-service veterinary care and make regular referrals for needs beyond the clinics’ scope of services.
