3 Reasons We Love Cats
Published February 6, 2019
Over a century ago, Charles Dickens once said “What greater gift than the love of a cat?”- little did he know how true that statement is. Science has now proven the many health benefits of being a cat owner. We checked out these three reasons to love cats:
- Cats help us sleep better. A study showed that cat owners were less likely to take medication for sleeping problems than non-pet owners.
- Cat owners are heart healthy. Another study showed that people who own cats are less likely to take medication for cardiovascular disease than those without pets.
- Cats are furry stress busters. Researchers found that when we pet our cats, our body releases oxytocin. Oxytocin has anti-stress effects and can also decrease blood pressure.
If you are looking to bring a kitty into your household, please consider adopting a cat from The Little Cats Rescue in Port Richey. All of the adoptable cats are healthy, spayed/neutered, and are current on appropriate vaccines. The adoption process involves an application, home visit, and a nominal adoption fee.
