Wellness Packages & Diagnostics

Annual wellness screenings are highly recommended for all pets seven years of age or older, or for pets experiencing health issues. Essentials PetCare offers affordable Wellness Screening Packages that enable us to catch disease and illness before they become serious—and more expensive to treat.

Our new Wellness Screen includes comprehensive bloodwork and urinalysis for just $80. Get a Wellness Screen + Thyroid Panel for only $90. Purchase either in conjunction with any other vaccine or illness package and you’ll save an additional $10 off our already low prices!

Worried about lumps or bumps on your pet? We offer cytology testing so you can find out if that bump is something to be concerned about, and if your pet should seek treatment for it.

If your pet needs an exam or lab work, please drop in to see us at Essentials PetCare, open seven days a week inside the Port Richey Walmart.

A Rosie Life for an Abandoned Pup

When Essentials PetCare opened its doors about a year ago, we didn’t have to wait long before our first patient was carried through the door.

She was a tiny, almost completely hairless Chihuahua. After finding her abandoned on the street, kind Officer Esposito brought her to see us. The trembling little dog was promptly named “Rosie” for the bright pink, inflamed skin exposed due to a terrible case of demodectic mange. This is the same condition that almost took the life of Annie, the pup who inspired our mission at Essentials PetCare.

Fortunately, it didn’t take long for us to start making life better for Rosie.

Using an over-the-counter shampoo and about $100 in services and medications, we successfully treated this down-on-her-luck pocket pup. She is now a happy, healthy dog who is thriving in her forever home.

For dogs like Rosie and Annie, who may have been abandoned by families who could not care for them, our mission is a life saver. Essentials PetCare wants to make sure all families can get quality veterinary services for their pets at an affordable price.

Please help us spread the word by letting your family and friends know about us.

Just like Rosie and Annie, many dogs and cats suffer needlessly because of skin and ear issues that can be easily and often inexpensively resolved.

At Essentials PetCare, we offer affordable canine and feline skin and ear packages that include a veterinarian’s exam, basic diagnostics, treatment recommendations, and a portable prescription if necessary. All of these packages are around $40, and the price is significantly reduced if purchased along with a vaccine package. Visit our services page for more information about all of our vaccine and minor illness packages.

Leptospirosis

Dogs at risk of leptospirosis are those that have been exposed to wet conditions or any type of standing fresh water such as rivers, streams, or lakes. Another leptospirosis risk factor includes roaming in the same places as infected animals, including walking trails, dog parks, or even in your yard if infected animals like racoons or rodents could be in the area. If left untreated, leptospirosis can lead to fatal kidney and/or liver failure. It is also a zoonotic disease, which means it can be transferred from animals to people.

Symptoms of leptospirosis include:

  • Soreness, reluctance to move
  • Lack of appetite
  • Sudden fever
  • Weakness
  • Shivering
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Increased thirst and urination

Please contact us at Essentials PetCare if you are noticing any of the above symptoms in your dog or if you have any questions or concerns.

Booster Vaccines

Administering booster vaccines for your pet is extremely important. Without the proper booster vaccines, your animal is not protected from contracting a potentially fatal disease. Boosters should be given between 2-4 weeks after the first vaccine and if you miss this timeframe, it may be necessary to repeat the entire vaccine series.

Available booster vaccines include:

  • Rabies
  • Distemper
  • Parvovirus
  • Bordetella
  • Lyme disease

Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about booster vaccines for your pet or visit our services page for more information on the vaccine packages we offer for both cats and dogs.
